The 30 Best Strappy Sandals We'll Be Wearing in 2024 | Who What Wear

As much as I hate to admit it, I know that my obsession with shoes can veer into unhinged territory at times. Yes, I already own a collection of shoes I love, but come fashion week, nothing will stop me from searching for the next big footwear trends. To me, there's something so exciting about how designers can take basic shoe styles and add their flair to them. And while there are always quite a few noteworthy shoe trends, one, in particular, has caught my attention: strappy sandals. This style is not groundbreaking. Strappy sandals are the shoes most likely sitting in the back of your closet or the ones you continually invest in come springtime. But if you're like me and want to move beyond basic nude sandals (no shade intended) to find the best strappy sandals, then you'll want to keep reading.

Some of the most interesting iterations of this style can be found in the spring 2024 collections. We saw everything from minimal T-straps to strappy sandals with dramatic sculptural heels. The biggest sandal trends of the season showed us that strappy sandals are back and bolder than ever. Need proof? Ahead, I've rounded up five strappy-sandal trends I spotted on the runways that I'm predicting will be big this season, along with the best strappy sandals to shop right now. If these don't make you want to ditch your old shoes, I don't know what will.

While the fashion set hasn't been able to stop talking about the return of bubble hemlines on the spring 2024 runways, I can't stop thinking about T-strap sandals. It's almost as if the quiet luxury movement single-handedly ushered this sandal back into style, as we saw the silhouette show up in the collections of Jil Sander, Valentino, Alexander McQueen, and others.

These are so fire—I can't deal.

Not all T-strap sandals have to have a stiletto.

So stunning.

We love suede sandals, especially when they're a rich chocolate shade.

I've had my eyes on these sandals for a while now.

Snakeskin print is a neutral in my book.

PSA: Strappy sandals don't just come in the form of high heels. In fact, thongs remained an ever-present force on the runways. But rather than the plastic versions of the past, thong sandals typically came in a more elevated forms—e.g., thin-strap sandals with wraparound straps or those adorned with hardware. (See St. Agni's and Tory Burch's collections.) The result is sandals that are fresh and functional.

So chic.

The swirl strap around the ankle? So about it.

You'll wear these with everything.

White sandals always embody the term drip, IMHO.

These sandals will last you for seasons to come.

These had me at the hardware.

Remember gladiators? Well, they're making a reappearance this season. From the minimalist strappy versions at Michael Kors to more elaborate heeled versions at Tom Ford, the continuation of this shoe trend is a reminder that the best strappy sandals aren't the simple ones.

I'm dreaming of all the ways I can style these bad boys.

These are so chic.

Buckle up.

The red shade of these sandals makes them even more of a statement pair.

These popped off.

I'd recommend styling these with a simple white dress.

It's no secret that wedges have been on a comeback tour, but it seems that designers have taken the trend even further. Rather than embracing chunkier shapes, we've seen minimalist strappy wedges everywhere, including Ferragamo's and Cholé's collections. They're proof that wedges aren't going anywhere anytime soon.

These have just the right amount of edge.

Now these are timeless.

Although I'm partial to the red pair, these wedges happen to come in black and white, too.

Mango does it again.

It's a need, not a want.

Perfect for a warm spring night.

Finally, this is the strappy sandal trend I'm personally most excited about: sandals with sculptural hardware. These sandals aren't just about adding more straps; rather, they're incorporating metal details. These shoes are all about taking our beloved strappy sandals and adding a contemporary touch—bringing a whole new meaning to the term "wearable art." And if that's not enough to get you excited about strappy sandals this season, then nothing can get you to step into this trend.

The heel on these sandals looks like an actual sculpture.

Metal toe rings are a must.

My jaw is on the floor.

The heel on these is practical and downright pretty.

These sandals will make embracing this trend easier.

Meet your new favorite pair of sandals.
