The American company behind labels such as Reebok and Ted Baker has added Hunter Boot to its collection of famous names.
The New York-based Authentic Brands has acquired the 160-year-old British company, known for its Wellington boots, which have been worn by figures including the Princess of Wales and Kate Moss, the model, for nearly £100 million, according to sources close to the deal.
The sale is the culmination of an auction process, conducted after the company secured a lifeline injection of £5 million from existing shareholders and another £2 million from lenders. In 2020, Hunter received a £16.5 million injection from Pall Mall Legacy, a fund backed by Goldman Sachs and existing shareholder Three Hills Capital Partners.
